Eiji Morimoto
Conference Chair of the 12th Asian-Australasian Conference on Precision Agriculture
Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Kobe University
It is my distinct honor to welcome you to the 12th Asian-Australasian Conference on Precision Agriculture, to be held from September 15th-18th, 2027 in the beautiful international city of Kobe, Japan. I am Eiji Morimoto, from the Graduate School of Agricultural Science at Kobe University, and I will be serving as the Conference Chair. Agriculture in the Asia-Australia region faces numerous challenges, including increasing food demand due to population growth, the destabilization of production environments caused by climate change, and an aging agricultural workforce. To address these issues, the introduction and advancement of precision agriculture, particularly "Smart Agriculture" technologies, are urgent priorities of ever-increasing importance.
This conference aims to contribute to the sustainability and productivity of agriculture throughout the Asia-Australia region by providing a platform for sharing the latest research findings, innovative technologies, and practical applications in this field, and fostering active discussions.
At this Kobe conference, in addition to the conventional framework of smart agriculture, we wish to shed light on a new perspective: the "Fusion of Agriculture and Brain Science." This is an endeavor to understand and model the profound knowledge and decision-making of experienced farmers – their "artisanal skills" – using approaches such as AI, data science, and cognitive science, and to elevate these into next-generation agricultural technologies. We anticipate that this stimulating theme will lead to the creation of new innovations.
In the wonderful setting of Kobe, we sincerely hope that this conference will be a fruitful and memorable one for all of you, as researchers, engineers, students, and agricultural producers from around the world gather to exchange knowledge and deepen cross-border collaborations.
We eagerly look forward to your participation.
