Professor ANDERSSON, Charlotte Luleå University of Technology

Title: The role of pelletizing in the fossil- free steel value chain

Speaker IntroductionCharlotte Andersson is an Associate Professor in Process Metallurgy at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) and Program Director for Swedish Mining Innovation, a leading Swedish innovation cluster. With extensive experience in metallurgical research, her expertise focuses on metal production from primary ores, recycled materials, and by-products as well as strategic innovation leadership. Dr. Andersson has previously led the Center of Advanced Mining and Metallurgy (CAMM) at Luleå University of Technology and worked as a Metallurgical Specialist at LKAB for 7 years. She holds a PhD in Chemical Technology (2007) and an MSc in Material Science (2003). Her expertise spans the entire metal value chain, developed through collaborations with various industry stakeholders and academia. Dr. Andersson is a board member of several research foundations and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.

Dr. EVANS, Tim Rio Tinto

Title: Research Lead, Rio Tinto Steel Decarbonisation

Speaker IntroductionDr Evans is currently R&D Lead for Steel Decarbonisation at Rio Tinto with over 30 years of industrial experience across the iron ore supply chain, from mine to furnace.
Over that time, he has worked for BHP Steel, BHP Research, BHP Billiton Innovation, HIsmelt Corporation, Hamersley Iron and Rio Tinto.
Tim holds Adjunct and Honorary Professor titles at various Australian and Chinese Universities.
He has established an academic record through significant research supervision and publications in iron and steelmaking as well as in the area of industrial sustainability.

Professor LIU, Zhengjian University of Science and Technology Beijing

Title: Progress and Innovations in Burden Preparation Technology for Blast Furnace Ironmaking in China

Speaker Introduction

Professor Zhengjian Liu from Universiry of Science and Technology Beijing has been engaged in the research of iron ore sintering, pelleting, low carbon iron making and hydrogen metallurgy technology for a long time, and serves as the Secretary general of Iron Making Branch of the Chinese Society for Metals. He was selected as the top young Talents of National "Ten Thousand People Plan", awarded the Metallurgical Young Science and Technology Award of China Metal Society, and the first IJMMM Young Scientist Award. As the first author/corresponding author, Prof. Liu has published 106 SCI/EI papers, authorized 65 domestic and foreign patents, and won 6 first prizes of provincial and ministerial science and technology awards.
