9th International Conference on Photoinduced Phase Transitions and Cooperative Phenomena
Since the first international conference on photoinduced phase transitions (PIPT) in 2001, this fascinating and rapidly evolving field has flourished tremendously. Over the past two decades, the international research community has discovered a wide range of cooperative phenomena driven by light in condensed matter systems and revealed microscopic charge, spin, and lattice dynamics on ultrafast time scales. These advances have been enabled by powerful experimental techniques, including time-resolved optical and terahertz spectroscopy, ultrafast X-ray and electron diffraction, and photoemission spectroscopy, together with significant progress in theory and materials synthesis.
In recent years, the field has further expanded toward the control and design of nonequilibrium states of matter. Advances in ultrafast and strong-field light sources now enable selective driving of electronic, magnetic, and structural degrees of freedom, providing access to novel dynamical states and emergent phenomena beyond equilibrium. According to these innovative progress, the research field of PIPT is now at the forefront of quantum materials science, photonics and quantum electronics.
The goal of PIPT9 is to bring together leading experimentalists and theorists working on ultrafast and nonequilibrium phenomena in a variety of material systems under the perspectives of the PIPT paradigm. The conference will cover a broad range of topics, including correlated, magnetic, topological, and low-dimensional systems, as well as recent developments in driving and probing techniques. Emphasis will be placed on fundamental understanding and control of light–matter interactions and on fostering discussions across disciplines.
PIPT9 will provide an open and stimulating environment for exchange of ideas among researchers at different career stages and aims to promote new collaborations and future directions in the field.
