SCES 2026 Awards

Call for nominations

We are soliciting nominations for recipients of the SCES 2026 Prizes for outstanding contributions to the study of strongly correlated electron systems. Following the tradition established at SCES 2013 in Tokyo, three prizes, of which two are early-career prizes, will be awarded during SCES 2026.

It will be awarded to a person who has made outstanding contributions to the theory of strongly correlated electron systems, and who is active in research for no more than 8 years after the PhD.

Bryan R. Coles Prize   Bryan R. Coles Profile

It will be awarded to a person who has made outstanding contributions to the experimental study or discovery of strongly correlated electron materials and phenomena, and who is active in research for no more than 8 years after the PhD.

Bernard Coqblin Prize   Bernard Coqblin Profile

It will be awarded to a person who has made significant contributions to the physics of strongly correlated electron systems achieved in a country where the field of SCES is not well established, or who has made significant contributions to establish vigorous activity of SCES research in such a country.

Application

- Nominations, no more than two pages in length, should explain the importance of the work upon which the nomination is based and state explicitly the prize for which the candidate is being nominated.

- Please limit the number of nominations per candidate to three.

- For the early career prizes, the date of the candidate’s PhD should be given.

- The nomination, together with supporting materials, for example, a one-page CV of the candidate and one or two papers related to the nomination, should be emailed to the Secretariat of SCES 2026 (sces2026@pcojapan.jp) by February 15, 2026, with the subject "Prize Nominations for SCES 2026".

- All nominations will be treated confidentially.
