The field of quality is undergoing rapid and significant transformation. Both the way quality work is conducted and the need for quality itself are evolving. The International Academy for Quality (IAQ) plays a central global role in this development. Through Think Tanks, projects, and research, the organization strives to contribute to and lead this progress.
Two major transformations are shaping quality management and excellence. The first transformation concerns how today’s accelerating technological advancements, particularly artificial intelligence, create new opportunities and challenges when working with quality. The second transformation highlights how quality management is critical to sustainable development.
During this session, participants will be able to engage with researchers and experts from the IAQ Doctoral Academy and gain insights into the latest developments in these areas. The session consists of two sub-seminars. The first will focus on how quality philosophies, methods, and tools form a crucial foundation for sustainability. Insights and data from hundreds of projects participating in the IAQ Quality Sustainability Award will serve as the basis for this discussion.
The second sub-seminar will focus on data quality, an area that is becoming increasingly critical to fulfilling today’s high expectations for technological development. Without vast amounts of high-quality data, the potential to develop new smart technologies is limited. Therefore, applying today’s knowledge of quality management to data quality management is of great importance.
Profile
Dr Lars Sorqvist is an international authority in Quality Management who has been working worldwide with quality for 30 years. He is Chair and board member of the International Academy for Quality (IAQ) and CEO of Sandholm Associates, a leading provider of training in quality management and excellence in Europe founded in 1971.
Dr Sorqvist is also a researcher and professor connected to several universities worldwide. His background is from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Shanghai Association for Quality (SAQ), a past board member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and past president of the International Academy for Quality (IAQ).
As an advisor and educator, Dr Sorqvist has conducted training and management seminars in a large number of companies and organizations in many countries on most continents. He also acts as a mentor and coach for executives, leaders, and quality professionals worldwide. As an author, Dr Sorqvist has written many articles and books on Quality Management, Continual Improvements, Lean, and Six Sigma.
