Presentation Title

Quality Management as a Strategic Tool

(Presentation Outline)
This session explores the idea of quality management as a strategic tool for sustainable business success:
• The context for change that organisations and quality professionals are addressing.
• The outcomes of an ongoing global research study conducted with Cranfield University on the value of quality management to organisations in the modern context and implications for quality management practice.
• The outcomes of a development initiative to define the scope of competence required to manage quality in the modern context and implications for quality teams and practitioners.
This session, provided by the UK-based Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA) examines the value of quality management and the quality team in the modern context.
The operating environment for organizations, sectors and economies is volatile and uncertain. Society expects new, sustainable digitally enabled value, and organisations must respond to this through new business models and innovation to drive sustainable competitiveness. During the 21st century to date there has been little change in principles and methods by which organizations manage and improve the quality of what they produce or how they produce it. Quality management bodies and practitioners in many contexts have become concerned that quality management is no longer considered by organisations and society as a strategic asset for the delivery of superior value to customers, society and organisations. This session explores the drivers for change in our modern context, recent research carried out to explore value of quality management and the new skills, knowledge and competences required by quality practitioners.
