Invitation to Lantern Floating “Toro-nagashi” Experience

Toro-nagashi (Lantern Floating) is a ceremony in which lanterns with messages of peace are floated down a river. In Hiroshima, Toro-nagashi was started by those who lost their families and friends in the atomic bombing, and people float paper lanterns for the pray for the souls of the dead and the reconstruction of Hiroshima after the WWII. Toro-nagashi is held every year in the evening of August 6th.

For the participants of JRRS/ACRR2025, Toro-nagashi will be held on the riverside of the Hiroshima International Conference Center on the evening of October 24, 2025. We hope that through this experience, participants will send a message of lasting peace to the world.
