大会委員長挨拶

日本遺伝学会第97回大会は、2025年9月10日（水）から12日（金）までの3日間、 神戸大学六甲台第2キャンパスにおいて開催することになりました。 神戸での大会開催は1985年以来、ちょうど40年ぶりとなります。現在、学会の支援をいただきながら大会開催に向けて鋭意準備を進めております。主要な情報は、本ウエブサイトにて順次公開してまいります。
例年通り、大会プログラムは、シンポジウム、ワークショップ、一般講演（口頭発表）、ポスター発表（大学院修士課程以下を対象）によって構成されます。 シンポジウム、ワークショップのテーマを公募しますので、どうぞ奮ってご応募ください。 一般講演からのBest Papers（BP）賞、ポスター発表からのYoung Best Posters（YBP）賞の選出もこれまで同様に行います。 受賞者は大会最終日の総会で発表いたしますので、ぜひ多くの会員にご参加いただければと思います。
また、大会最終日の翌日、9月13日（土）には、公開市民講座「遺伝学が拓く古代生物の世界」を開催いたします。 近年の遺伝学関連分野の潮流として、次世代シーケンサーなどの先端技術を基盤とする研究が急速な広がりを見せる中、過去に絶滅した生物のDNA解析に基づく研究の進展には目を見張るものがあります。 本講座では、絶滅したニホンオオカミ、古代日本人の起源、マンモス復活計画、恐竜研究の新展開などに関する研究内容を、それぞれの専門家にわかりやすく解説していただきます。 子供から高齢者まで、万人が興味を持つ「古代生物」をテーマに掲げ、遺伝学の魅力を一般市民に広く発信したいと思います。
ご存じのように、神戸は六甲山と大阪湾に挟まれた、大変眺めの良い街です。 ポートアイランドで開催される学会に数多く参加された方でも、六甲山の登り口に位置する神戸大学のキャンパスに足を運ばれた方はそれほど多くないかも知れません。 本大会のメイン会場（神戸大学百年記念館）からも神戸の街並みを見下ろすことができますが、ナイトゼミナールや懇親会では、 山と海から神戸の美しい夜景を楽しんでいただける会場をご用意して、皆様の参加をお待ちしております。
ぜひとも多くの会員にご参加いただき、盛大で有意義な大会になるよう努めてまいりますので、どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

Greetings from the Conference Chair

The 97 th Annual Meeting of the Genetics Society of Japan (GSJ) will be held from September 10 (Wed.) to 12 (Fri.), 2025, at Kobe University, Rokkodai 2nd Campus. It has been 40 years since the meeting was held in Kobe last time in 1985. Currently, we are earnestly preparing for the conference with the support of GSJ. Information will be released on this conference website.

As in the previous meetings, the programme will consist of symposia, workshops, general oral presentations, and poster presentations (for students of master's course or below). We invite you to submit your ideas for the symposium and workshop. The Best Papers (BP) award for general presentations and the Young Best Posters (YBP) award for poster presentations will be selected as usual. The winners will be announced at the GSJ general meeting on the last day of the conference, in which we hope many members will participate.

In addition, on September 13 (Sat.) after the last day of the conference, the open public lecture entitled "The World of Ancient Organisms Exploited by Genetics" will be held. In recent years, researches based on advanced technologies such as next-generation sequencers have been expanding rapidly, so that studies on DNA analysis of previously extinct organisms have made remarkable progress. In this lecture, each expert will explain in an easy-to-understand manner the contents of research on extinct Japanese wolves, the origin of ancient Japanese, the mammoth revival project, and new developments in dinosaur research. Under the theme of "ancient organisms," which interests everyone from children to the elderly, we hope to spread the appeal of genetics to the general public.

As you know, Kobe is a city with a great view between Mt. Rokko and Osaka Bay. Even if you have attended many academic conferences held in Port Island, you may not have visited Kobe University's campus on the foothill of Mt. Rokko. The main venue (Kobe University Centennial Hall) of this meeting overlooks the streets of Kobe, while we are also looking forward to your participation in the night seminar and social gathering, where you can enjoy the beautiful night view of Kobe from the mountains and sea.
We would like to encourage as many members as possible to participate in the meeting and make it a great and meaningful event.
